Youth Sunday 2012 |
Greeted by smiling youth in bright yellow shirts! That was how this Sunday started for many members at Our Saviour Lutheran Church in Southern Pines, NC! The theme of the day was lived out by everyone to -
Love One Another
John 15:17
What a wonderful group of young people to be inspired by! Youth Sunday which was held at 11:00am on May 13th was a huge hit! Everyone has had such wonderful things to say about it! And all of the credit goes to these individuals. First the youth designed the entire worship service. They not only outlined the whole service, but they also wrote every part of it, chose all of the hymns and songs, and added a little bit of their own flare and love into the service.
Here are just some of the highlights that congregation members can't stop talking about...
- The Congregation was asked to hold hands with one another during the Lord's Prayer (something this congregation is not used to)
- The little Children's Choirs sang two wonderful songs

- The congregation turned to face one another as they shared a wonderfully written statement of faith by one of our upcoming confirmands
- The Peace was shared in a new way and lasted nearly 3 minutes (rather than the regular 45 seconds)
- The youth ran through a banner at the end of the service exclaiming “The worship has ended! Let the service begin!”

- And every single mother and child got to take home a white carnation to color!
But what made this service so powerful was that it came from their hearts, and also because they had fun doing it! These kids get “IT”, and it’s amazing to see and experience!
We hope that everyone had a chance to be there, to experience and hear about what it means to Love One Another as mentioned in the 15th Chapter of John and if you couldn't for some reason it is definitely an experience worth having, and we hope to see you next year!
WOW! This sounds like it was a really incredible day that blessed so many people! Congrats everyone! you are all so impressive!
